People's Choice Award

The winner of the 2014 People's Choice award is The Luminaries, by Eleanor Catton (Victoria University Press).  Thousands of New Zealanders voted for their favourite book, and runners up included Molesworth: Stories from New Zealand's largest high country station, by Harry Broad and Rob Suisted (Craig Potton Publishing), and Jonah: My Story, by Jonah Lomu, published by Hachette New Zealand.

Public votes were invited for New Zealand's favourite book published between the 2014 awards datespan (1 June 2013 and 31 May 2014).  Voting took place over 3 weeks from 23 July until 15 August 2014 and the winner was announced at the New Zealand Post Book Awards ceremony on 27 August 2014, in Wellington.
