When Hollie Chips and her mum move to Puriti Road, Hollie is baffled by the way her neighbours all keep to themselves. But Hollie is a remarkable little girl, and it isn't long before she has charmed her way into their
lives.
When she discovers that a dastardly businessman is trying to buy up their houses, to bulldoze them and build a dog food factory (which he has told them will be an orphanage!), the neighbours have to band together with Hollie and her mum to outwit him!

Anna Gowan was born in Auckland into a family fond of tall stories. She completed a degree in film and media at Otago University while studying writing by correspondence. A stint at John Marsden’s writing camp in Australia cemented her passion. In recent years she has worked her writing around a career in television. In the past few years Anna has travelled extensively around South America, the USA, Canada and South East Asia, in between stints writing, and working, in Auckland. She loves going out to the movies and to the theatre, spends far too much on going out to restaurants and has recently embarked on a new hobby: running. |
