About Strong Beautiful and Modern
In the late 1930s and early 1940s, a wave of state-sponsored 'national ftness' programmes swept Britain and its former colonies. Following revelations of the Nazi enthusiasm for government-backed sports and the organisation of mass leisure, the programmes quickly foundered.

Thanks to the generosity of Te Papa Press we were able to give away a copy of The Wedding Dress: 300 years of bridal fashion (RRP $85.00).
