Helpline
People affected by the quake can call the Government's earthquake helpline for advice. The helpline will run 24 hours a day. The number is 0800779997.

Meridian Energy update for business customers
Meridian Energy’s Christchurch-based customer contact centre is currently closed due to the 6.3 earthquake that hit the area at 12.51 on 22 February.
Meridian is working to restore its services and hope to have their contact centre operating from another part of the country as soon as possible.

Most banks are accepting donations - check this list.

Blood donation
The New Zealand Blood Service will let people know through their Twitter and Facebook pages when they need blood donations. (Note: both these pages can be seen regardless of whether you're a member of Twitter or Facebook).
