Bookman Beattie now Cultural Icon
Graham Beattie, publisher, book seller, literary judge, reviewer and blogger has been videoed in conversation with Graeme Lay for the Cultural Icons website.
The site celebrates people who have shaped New Zealand’s arts & culture scene.
This interview between Graham Beattie and Graeme Lay takes the form of a journey through Graham’s career; from his early love of books to his becoming one of New Zealand’s most reputable children’s book sellers, as well as book reviewer, the Managing Director/Publisher at both Penguin and Scholastic, a book awards judge and most recently a prolific, reputable and extensively-read blog writer.
Cultural Icons is a free resource and many of the interviews are available as downloads.
"The managing director of Penguin books rang me one day…he took me out for lunch and in fact, he offered me his job…I was flattered and alarmed"
