Parsons Bookshop, Auckland for sale

After 36 years of much fun and success Roger and Helen Parsons have decided to retire....at least from bookselling. Roger has a number of mountains to climb and Helen has family to visit. Therefore, Parsons bookshop in Auckland is now for sale.

Parsons Auckland is a specialist bookshop covering New Zealand and international art books plus a wide range of New Zealand, Maori and Pacific books...fiction,history,
natural history, biography, and poetry .

Over 40 percent of the shop sales are to customers outside Auckland.

Roger and Helen opened Parsons in October 1975 with the expertise ( and some capital) provided by Roy Parsons. The current shop on the corner of Wellesley and Lorne Streets in central Auckland has been home to Parsons for the past 15 years.

The architecturally designed (Felicity Wallace) shop saw turnover grow three times over ten years. Parsons employs well-qualified art graduates to answer the continuous and detailed queries from informed customers. The shop currently has four staff members.

Lawrie McColl (partner of Jo McColl from Unity Books Auckland) is handling the sale and can be contacted on 021 625 602.

The price is $150 000 plus stock.
