Counter Intelligence from Wrights Bookshop
We asked Hamish from Wrights Bookshop in Cambridge what the team are enjoying selling at the moment:
Firstly I am enjoying selling Born To Run (9781861978233) by Chris McDougall. Best non-fiction I have read this year. Informative, enthralling look at running and the associated business of feet that lays alongside the act of. Wonderful stories fill the book from Emil Zatopek to the Nike Free. Finishing with an amazing race between the Tamahara Indians and the nutters that make up the ultra-endurance running crowd. Brilliant stuff.

Secondly the Gerald Seymour (The Collaborator, 9780340918869) and the William Boyd (Ordinary Thunderstorms, 9781408802472) fill both my criteria for damn fine thrillers and intelligent scenarios. Certain winners.
Thirdly is Knotted (9781869507886) by Michelle Holman. A Cambridge girl who has written her third novel and is consistently good. I must admit I don't read chick lit but have found it to be fun and frothy. It is always good knowing other genders and I guess I need to put my mind on the line and expand the old horizons. Plus there is a plug for the Breast Cancer Charity so that is always good.
Fourthly is the Diana Gabaldon (An Echo in the Bone, 9780752898483). Haven't read it but have sold over 100 and am loving the lack of discounting and full margin!
Fifthly (is there such a word..) is Notwithstanding (9781846553318) by Louis de Bernieres. Wonderful tales centered around a little village called, yes you guessed it, Notwithstanding. Easy sell to the Guernsey Potato Pie market and is de Bernieres at his whimsical best.
And lastly I am enjoying selling Ultimate Sex Postions (9780756655693) by Anne Hooper. Haven't sold any yet but am having fun trying.....
