Craig Campbell passes
It is with great sadness that Hachette NZ advises that Craig Campbell passed away on 8th November 2019.
Craig worked for Hachette, Hodder Moa Beckett and Hodder & Stoughton for over 34 years, he was one of the Hachette’s longest standing employees anywhere in the world – a fact of which he, and the Hachette NZ team, were very proud. He started as the South Island Hardback Sales Rep for Hodder & Stoughton in the 1980s and worked with a long and distinguished list of booksellers the length and breadth of the South Island and in more recent years the lower half of the North Island.
Craig was incredibly dedicated and professional, he had a deep understanding and love of books and an easy rapport with customers. He could always be relied on for straightforward non-nonsense feedback. Craig was a man of few words, but those laconic words were always well-chosen and often very funny. Craig was a wonderful friend and colleague and we will miss him very much.
Craig retired a year ago and during this time he kept in regular contact, he was always interested in hearing about what his customers were up to and what was happening in the industry he loved so much.
Our thoughts and best wishes are with Craig’s family at this time. His family would like to thank the Nurses and staff of Ward 26, Christchurch Hospital, and the team at Nurse Maude Hospice for their exceptional care of Craig and advise that donations to Nurse Maude Hospice would be appreciated.
