Paperwork is minimal
The first objection to changing an insurance provider is usually the screeds of paper needing to be filled in, but with the Booksellers Policy, the only documentation required for your store is a one page declaration. Individual stores are issued with Certificates of Insurance, and there is an 0800 claims line answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To keep the policy cost-effective for stores, there is one common due date of March 31 each year, but there is no problem if you are transitioning from another insurer at another date, as you will be charged a transitional premium from that date until the following March 31.

The basics of the package include:

  • Business Assets – up to a sum insured of $1,000,000 with a lower standard excess of $250 (commercial policies usually have a standard excess of at least $500)
  • Business Interruption – up to a sum insured of $1,000,000
  • Public Liability - $10,000,000 sum insured
  • Statutory Liability - $500,000 sum insured
  • Employers Liability - $500,000 sum insured
  • Employee Fraud - $10,000

Also if you want to add cover for motor vehicles, buildings and disability insurance, they can be arranged at competitive rates and added to your policy package.

Established brokers
Crombie Lockwood has a great track record of bringing together great individual brokers and respected broking companies to create more powerful insurance resources for their clients and particular business needs. They have been in business since 1978, and have a network from Invercargill to Kaitaia with a team of over 700 industry professionals located in 22 local offices.

Though the Booksellers scheme is administered from one central office in the Wellington area, a local Crombie Lockwood Office is never far from a Booksellers member store.

$1,000,000 Peace of Mind
Bookseller policies under the Crombie Lockwood scheme have a unique feature – blanket cover of up to $1 million as Business Assets Protection for stock and all other assets excluding motor vehicles and buildings. This means you are safeguarded against being underinsured through an oversight in stock valuation. Many policies will only allow you to claim on the nominated amount.
