Young Bookseller of the Year
Who should enter?
Rising bookselling stars who are aged 35 or under as at 31 May 2018 and work at an independent, chain or online store.
The judges are looking for an excellent bookseller with great book knowledge, flair, energy and enthusiasm, who can successfully match customers with books. Credit will be given for innovation, involvement in events and promotions, or for successfully championing an individual title.
What to submit
- A completed entry form
- A single PDF (5 pages max.) which addresses the above criteria. Word count: 500–1,500 words. Note: examples must be from 1 April 2017 to 31 May 2018. Some of the things you could include are:
- Testimonials – from customers, colleagues or reps.
- Evidence of contributions – e.g. photos of displays, events; screenshots of social media, etc.
- Evidence of enthusiasm and passion – especially beyond the job, like review/blog writing, event participation etc.
This year there is no entry fee for nominations for staff who work at shops that are members of Booksellers NZ. Non-members may enter for a fee of $100 + gst.
The winner will be presented with a certificate at the Awards Dinner at Rydges Auckland on Saturday 25th of August and will be included in a media release sent out by Booksellers NZ.
How to enter
Nominations should usually come from the individual’s manager or colleagues, but young retailers may submit themselves.
