Booksellers NZ is proud to support festivals and events across the country that bring readers, writers, and bookshops together. Applications for 2027 sponsorship open on 1 October and close 31 October.
Successful festival applicants receive up to $2,000 in book tokens, plus $2,000 worth of promotional content on Bookhub — helping put your festival in front of New Zealand's reading community. Other events can apply for book token sponsorship of up to $300.
We're looking for festivals and events that support New Zealand's bookselling and reading culture, and that can creatively use book token sponsorship to reward readers, reach new audiences, and build lasting community engagement.
Please note that funding for applications submitted outside the 1–31 October window is extremely limited. We strongly encourage applicants to apply within this period for the best chance of success.
To be eligible, applicants need at least three bookshop redemption outlets within 100km of the event (excluding the festival's own bookstore).
To make the most of the Bookhub promotional opportunity, applicants should be ready to share branding, press releases, and advance notice of their festival line-up.
Successful applicants will receive their book tokens 2 weeks prior to their 2027 event, once Booksellers NZ has confirmed the event is proceeding.
