The WORD Christchurch 2026 programme is here, and it is massive!
From 1–6 September, Ōtautahi comes alive with over 60 events featuring more than 100 writers, artists, and thinkers from Aotearoa and around the world. This year’s lineup is genuinely extraordinary: Booker Prize winner Shehan Karunatilaka, rock legend Jon Toogood, Māori rights activist Tāme Iti, comedian Pax Assadi, and our former Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson are just the beginning. Add to that a veritable who’s who of NZ literati (Ingrid Horrocks, Charlotte Grimshaw, Noelle McCarthy, Pip Adam, Claire Mabey, Tina Makereti, Elizabeth Knox, just to name a few) and you’ve got six days that will make the whole city hum.
Head to the WORD Christchurch website to view the full programme and book your spot. These events sell fast!
