After 23 years and 8 months of owning Time Out Bookstore, Wendy Tighe-Umbers has sold the business to longtime manager, Jenna Todd.
Time Out is an independent bookstore situated in the heart of Mt Eden Village that opened in 1988. The store won the Bookshop of the Year Award at the 2003 and 2016 New Zealand Book Industry Awards.
Wendy bought Time Out Bookstore in 2002, after a friend saw a for sale sign in the window. She was looking to retire from a career in teaching and school leadership and owned the store by the end of the week. Now, after more than 20 years at the helm of Time Out, she has sold the business to Jenna Todd, who has been a manager there since 2012.
