The 2025 Booksellers Conference + Trade Days

Register now for an unforgettable experience at the 2025 Booksellers Conference in Auckland.

The Conference will be held at the Auckland University of Technology, 55 Wellesley Street East, Auckland Central on Saturday 19 July 2025.

Our 2025 conference programme covers a wide range of topics about the business of selling books – from payment technologies to attacks on your bookstore – and features world-class economists, authors and booksellers. The Booksellers Conference is for anyone involved in or interested in the bookselling industry.

We kick the conference weekend off on Friday night with a special welcoming event, the Booksellers Salon. This unique evening features a line-up of authors and is an informal networking event where you can catch up with old friends, make new ones and mix and mingle with peers, publishers, and authors. The Salon line-up will be announced in June.

The Booksellers Conference is also the gateway to the excellent Auckland Trade Day. The Auckland event is followed this year by similar events in Wellington & Christchurch: your opportunity to meet with publishers and learn all about their books, the Christmas 2025 books, discuss trade terms, plan events and so much more.

Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect:

• Friday 18 July: Kick off the conference with our official welcome event, the Booksellers Salon: a fun and relaxed evening to connect with your peers, publishers and reps while hearing from some of Aotearoa’s finest authors as they tell stories and share their mahi on the beer garden stage. The event begins at 6pm at Parked Up in Victoria Park.
• Saturday 19 July: The day starts with a light breakfast and keynote address from an acclaimed author, followed by engaging sessions where you’ll hear about new trends and forecasts from leading economic commentators, hear from world-class booksellers about innovations in bookshops and share ideas and more at the community forum. • Saturday 19th July, evening : Get ready to frock up for the Book Industry Awards dinner, the annual night of excellence and recognition with your peers. On Wednesday 7 May information and entry forms for the awards will open.
• Sunday 20th July: Auckland Trade Day is bustling, headlined by keynote address from Anna Burkey over lunch and a panel of booksellers and publishers to explore ways we can improve the literacy landscape in Aotearoa NZ. We have over 20 publishers already registered to attend, and all conference delegates will be sent information on business meetings after their registration.

Tickets

All tickets will be invoiced after registration. Tickets to all events are non-transferable. Refund conditions: 100% refund if cancelled before 20 May, 50% before 20 June and 20% before 18 July. All events are catered. Please ensure you advise us of any dietary requirements when you register.

Accommodation 

We’ve partnered with SkyCity to secure discounted rates at their hotels. Rooms are limited, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

The 2025 Conference and Auckland Trade Day will be held at the Auckland University of Technology in the Auckland CBD. We have preferential accommodation links at SkyCity Hotel (a 10-minute/600 metre walk).
