8am – 5pm, Sunday 20 July, AUT, Auckland CBD
Booksellers trade events are an opportunity for booksellers, publishers, authors, reps and book people to get together, network, talk about books, commingle on literary matters, and meet in real life rather than on email or zoom. The Auckland Trade Day follows the Annual Booksellers Conference on 19 July.
The Auckland Trade Day begins at 8am and finishes at 5pm. Publishers and booksellers are invited to make 20-minute business meetings from 8:40-11am and 1-5pm. For two hours between 11am and 1pm there will be no business meetings in order for delegates and exhibitors to network freely, explore publisher tables at leisure, take a lunch break and enjoy the keynote presentation from Anna Burkey, head of Australia Reads and head of communications at the Australian Publishers Association.

Anna will be sharing insights from the recent research Understanding Australian readers: Behavioural insights into recreational reading by Australia Reads and Monash University’s BehaviourWorks, which tackles questions like: How do we get more people reading? What are the best ways to reach those who rarely read? And what can we practically do to influence reading habits? The research provides valuable insights into how to positively influence reading participation and has immediate and practical relevance for Aotearoa New Zealand audiences too.
